"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."Each morning I read something new comes alive. This week I'm reading Deuteronomy... Once I finish a book I switch from OT to NT. Last week I was reading Acts... before that 1 & 2 Chronicals.. etc.
This morning I woke up really tired, and not really wanting to read but I read Deut. 11/12. It was about loving and serving the Lord. This is an excerpt of Deut. 11
So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the LORD your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul— 14 then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil. 15 I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied. The very first part of this verse, so if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today-- To love the LORD your GOD and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul. If I'm honest, I don't know if I do that. Serve God with all my heart, and all my soul. I can't wait to focus on serving him with all that I am, my being, my soul.
16 Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them. 17 Then the LORD’s anger will burn against you, and he will shut up the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce, and you will soon perish from the good land the LORD is giving you. 18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, 21 so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.
22 If you carefully observe all these commands I am giving you to follow—to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him and to hold fast to him— 23 then the LORD will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations larger and stronger than you. 24 Every place where you set your foot will be yours: Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the Euphrates River to the Mediterranean Sea. 25 No one will be able to stand against you. The LORD your God, as he promised you, will put the terror and fear of you on the whole land, wherever you go.
After I read Deuteronomy I read a psalm, which is not part of my rutine usually however I decieded to this morning and I picked psalm 30 because today is Nov. 30th.
will exalt you, LORD,for you lifted me out of the depthsand did not let my enemies gloat over me.2 LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.3 You, LORD, brought me up from the realm of the dead;you spared me from going down to the pit.4 Sing the praises of the LORD, you his faithful people;praise his holy name.5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime;weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.6 When I felt secure, I said,“I will never be shaken.”7 LORD, when you favored me,you made my royal mountain[c] stand firm;but when you hid your face,I was dismayed.
8 To you, LORD, I called;to the Lord I cried for mercy:9 “What is gained if I am silenced,if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it proclaim your faithfulness?10 Hear, LORD, and be merciful to me;LORD, be my help.”11 You turned my wailing into dancing;you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.LORD my God, I will praise you forever.
Thank God for the beautiful day today! Pray that we can learn to serve and obey his commands with our whole heart, and soul all the days of our life.
